Each department has the option to alter the
requirements for Honors in the Major, as long as the stated minimums remain in
effect.
Below, you will find the things you need to know about how Honors in the Major
works in your department.
- In the typical Economics Honors project, the student works for two semesters.
The first semester is spent researching the general area in which you wish
to
write and beginning to narrow in on the specific topic, and the second
semester is spent putting the finishing touches on the research and writing
the thesis.
- The course you register for, for Honors Thesis credit, is ECO4934r,
Honors Work.
- Students must complete their project in 6 semester hours of thesis credit.
- All six of these thesis hours can count toward major requirements.
- Grading of early stages of research is up to the discretion of the Thesis Director, but usually a grade will be assigned in a semester for work in
progress, and a separate grade will be assigned in the semester for the completed
project.
- Students are encouraged to make plans for Honors in the Major work in
Economics well in advance. You can also visit Economics
Honors in the Major . Students should meet with Professor Thomas
McCaleb to discuss the program at their earliest convenience.
