Each department has the option to alter the
requirements for Honors in the Major, as long as the stated minimums remain in
effect.
Below, you will find the things you need to know about how Honors in the Major
works in the Finance Department.
- The thesis is expected to be a research-oriented paper investigating a topic of critical importance to the finance discipline. The paper should be approximately fifty pages in length, and follow accepted manuscript style.
- The student must attain an overall GPA of 3.60 or above in order to be able to register for Honors Thesis credit. The GPA must be maintained throughout the Honors Thesis project.
- Students must complete FIN 4454 & FIN 4504 before registering for thesis hours.
- The course you register for, for Honors Thesis credit, is FIN 4970, Honors Thesis in Finance.
- Honors in the Major students will complete six hours of Honors thesis credit to graduate With Honors.
- Work in progress is assigned an 'I' (Incomplete), until the finished paper is approved.
- Students are encouraged to make plans for Honors in the Major work in Finance as early as possible. Students should meet with Professor William Christiansen to discuss the program at their earliest convenience.
