Each department has the option to alter the
requirements for Honors in the Major, as long as the stated minimums remain in
effect.
Below, you will find the things you need to know about how Honors in the Major
works in your department.
- The thesis is an extended research paper, longer and more complex than
those required of all history majors in our Senior Seminar and based as far
as is
practical on primary sources.
- The course you register for, for Honors Thesis credit, is HIS4936r,
Honors Work.
- Generally, Honors in the Major students will complete six hours of Honors
thesis credit to graduate With Honors.
- None of these thesis hours can apply toward major requirements.
- Work in progress is assigned a grade at the end of each semester.
- Students are encouraged to make plans for Honors in the Major work in
History as early as possible. Students should meet with Dr. Jonathan Grant to discuss the program at their earliest convenience.
