Each department has the option to alter the requirements for Honors in the Major, as long as the stated minimums remain in effect.
Below, you will find the things you need to know about how Honors in the Major works in the Marketing Department.
- The student must attain an overall GPA of 3.60 or above in order to be able to register for Honors Thesis credit. The GPA must be maintained throughout the Honors Thesis project.
- The thesis should be a research-oriented paper investigating a topic of critical importance to marketing and/or international business. The thesis should be of exceptionally high quality, and follow accepted manuscript style. Empirical papers are strongly encouraged. Results of the research should be of quality to be forwarded to an academic conference or journal publication.
- The Honors Thesis is a two-semester project.
- Honors in the Major students will complete six hours of Honors thesis credit to graduate with Honors, three credits in each of the two semesters.
- The course that you register for is MAR4970r, Honors Thesis, for both the first and second semesters.
- Work in progress is assigned an 'I' (Incomplete), until the finished paper is approved. The student receives an Incomplete for the work done in the first semester, which is then changed to a letter grade at the end of the second semester. The student also receives a letter grade for the second semester.
- Interested students should contact the Honors Thesis coordinator for the Marketing Department, Dr. Gary Knight.
