Each department has the option to alter the
requirements for Honors in the Major, as long as the stated minimums remain in
effect.
Below, you will find the things you need to know about how Honors in the Major
works in your department.
-
The student doing an Honors thesis in Psychology assumes more responsibility
and more leadership and independence than a typical Directed Independent Study.
The project is more the student's than the professor's, although it involves
the professor's area of expertise and is conducted in his/her research setting.
- The course you register for, for Honors Thesis credit, is PSY4039r,
Honors Work.
- Students usually take six hours of Honors Thesis credit, typically
over two semesters, to graduate With Honors.
- These hours are above and beyond Psychology major requirements.
- Grades for work in progress are assigned at the discretion of the Thesis Director.
- Students are encouraged to make plans for Honors in the Major work in
Psychology well in advance. Students should meet with Professor Barbara Licht to discuss the program at their earliest convenience.
