Each department has the option to alter the
requirements for Honors in the Major, as long as the stated minimums remain in
effect.
Below, you will find the things you need to know about how Honors in the Major
works in your department.
- Honors in the Major in Social Work involves a special research project
developed with the assistance of a faculty Thesis Director.
- The course you register for, for Honors Thesis credit, is SOW4911r,
Honors Work in Social Work.
- Students take six hours of Honors Thesis credit, typically over two
semesters, to graduate With Honors.
- Three of these hours can count toward major requirements. (Social Work
students only have 3 hours of Social Work electives as requirements in the
major)
- Grades for work in progress are assigned at the discretion of the Thesis Director.
- Students are encouraged to make plans for Honors in the Major work in
Social Work well in advance. Students should meet with Professor Kim
Maddox to discuss the program at their earliest convenience.
