UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH & CREATIVITY SYMPOSIUM The Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium provides an opportunity for outstanding undergraduate students to showcase their work in a professional, conference-type setting. The Honors Office held its first Symposium in April of 2000, thanks to a generous grant from the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. The purpose of the Symposium in the beginning was twofold: first, it was used as an opportunity to provide information and incentive to students interested in pursuing Honors in their own major; and second, it was used as a showcase for the students who were presenting. Over the years, the focus of the Symposium has shifted and where once the showcasing of talented students was only secondary, it is now the primary directive. In addition, all undergraduate students who are working on research or creative activity are encouraged to submit applications for the opportunity to present either an oral presentation or a poster presentation. The name of the Symposium was changed in 2006 to reflect this renewed emphasis on undergraduate research and creative activity. The Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium is held every spring semester. Please feel free to visit the archives of past Symposia—we have included information on the student presenters, their majors, presentation titles and abstracts, and faculty directors.
